Original Soupman

Sebastian Rametta is the founder of The Original Soupman. In 1984, Al Yeganeh, the famous NY Soupman opened his Soup Kitchen International in NYC. Rametta partnered with Yeganeh to license his legendary soup recipes for a multi-channel company that included franchise restaurants, a line of premium “heat-n-serve” Tetra Pak soups, and premium food service soups. Yeganeh’s soup store located at West 55 Street & 8 Ave. in NYC inspired the famous Seinfeld soup episode, “No Soup For You!”. His soups were rated “Best” by Zagat and Consumer Reports. Rametta successfully accomplished his two primary roles of 1) to mass-produce Al’s famous soups consistently with the original recipes and tastes for supermarkets and Soupman restaurants and 2) to have the Soupman Tetra Pak soups authorized in the top supermarkets and retailers in the country including Kroger’s, Safeway, Publix, Shoprite, Meijer’s, HEB and Costco. Rametta also implemented Soupman programs in national restaurants including Subway, Sodexo, and Tim Horton’s. He selected the ideal contract manufacturers to slow-cook in small batches using the original recipes to distribute the soups to these customers nationally. To give this business the best chance to achieve its potential as the best tasting soup brand in the world Mr. Rametta was able to sign on successful CEO’s to lead the brand including John Bello (the founder of SOBE) , Lloyd Sugarman (founder of Johnny Rockets) and Jamieson Karson (the former CEO of Steve Madden Shoe Company who grew the business to over $1 Billion).
